About the Supertruck
The Speedco Supertruck is a 2000 Mack CX613 tractor donated by Indiana Truck Sales that has been stretched to an expediter wheelbase of 317 inches. It features an air-ride chassis and cab with a 460 horsepower Mack E-7 engine mated to a 10-speed Mack transmission and a 22' van body by Alumi-Bunk.
Some 400 man hours went into the Supertruck's incredible custom painting and striping job along with custom chrome and interior work.
Bryan Martin, manager of 4 State Trucks in Joplin, Mo., home of the Chrome Shop Mafia, says it's a real change of pace for his crew to work on a straight truck project. "It gets your imagination going about the possibilities available with a type of vehicle we don't usually see in here. We had fun with it," he says.
Veteran expedited owner-operator Rich Moore is the lucky guy who was chosen to take the Supertruck on its appointed rounds.
He tells us, "I'm having a wonderful time meeting all the people who have come out to see the truck and the Speedco folks have been just great, too. This truck is a dream to drive and it definitely gets attention on the road!"
Reactions to the Supertruck
John O'Mahoney of Brick, NJ caught up with the Supertruck at one of its stops and says, "It's a great looking truck with the murals on the side. People are really going to enjoy seeing this truck. I've already entered to win this ride!"
Tom Boyett, Blackshear. NC says, "After looking at this truck, I would give up my desk job to drive it!"
Roy Ward, Graham, NC commented, "I would love to be the truck's driver and I volunteer my services if Rich can't make it.
I might even pay to drive it!"
Tim Sullivan, Greenville, TN tells us, "I don't have a CDL, but I'll sure get one so I can win this truck!"
How to enter
Drivers can register to win the Supertruck at tour events, as well as at all Speedco locations across the United States, and at any Alumi-Bunk location. Six finalists will be selected in a random drawing and will receive transportation to the annual Expedite Expo in Wilmington, Ohio, July 27 and 28.
An additional six finalists will be selected in a random drawing during the Expo from all eligible on-site entries. Each finalist will receive a key to the Supertruck, and the finalist whose key starts the truck wins the grand prize.
A first prize of Yokohama tires, a second prize of Speedco Preventive Maintenance for one year, and a third prize of a $500 Shell gift card will be awarded in another drawing.
