EN: Well, Joe how long have you been in the expedite business?

JM: Since 1992, that’s 16 years, of which 7 years were on the road as an operator. I’ve driven every category, all types of equipment in expediting, plus I handled single and team operations.

EN: What got you started?

JM: Actually, I drove trucks in the army, my father and brother were in the business when I got out and I joined them.

EN: So, what got you started in your consulting business?

JM: Actually, I got started when I stated doing workshops when Jeff Jensen asked me to do one for Expedite Expo. I ended up doing 3 or 4 at the EXPO

EN: How does one sign up for your service?

JM: I recommend that they come to my Introductory Seminar and check out what I have to offer and sign up then.

EN: What do they get when they sign up?

JM: They receive a complete turn-key plan for a successful expedite freight business for either fleet or owner operator. This includes a detailed nuts-and-bolts hands-on manual. Plus, for up to 90 days they get the benefit of my experience by phone appointment.

EN: What would you say are the five most important things to keep in mind for a beginner?

JM: 1) Align yourself with someone who is already successful in the business. This will help you get to the top faster.
2) Be sure to get over the road experience and get a feel for the road; you’ll know your drivers better.
3) You need to have a good business plan.
4) Understand the drivers you work with.
5) Get essential knowledge like how to buy trucks smart. Learn everything you can by starting with my seminar! You need to keep your hand on the pulse of the business, stay alert to changes, adapt, stay vigilant and be aware.  I think the future looks really good for expediting and I can help be a part of that.

EN: I have a feeling you will be.
